What a GREAT day!

Of course I've already posted a few pictures on FB but I needed to blog about my sweet, smart oldest boy, Jacob.

Today was the first grade awards for the third marking period (and nope, Kindergarten isn't doing awards this marking period either!). I got the little note in his report card about it and marked it on my calendar.

Getting his commendable attendance award. He missed one day this marking period for being sick. Stinky stomach bug!!

Cheeeeeese!

Getting his Principal's Award for having all A's.

Cheeeeeeeeese!
(And as my neighbor put it as he smiled as soon as he stood up there, I have them so well trained! They know to give me a big grin for a picture as soon as possible!)

And I wasn't prepared for this one so I didn't have my camera out until they were getting ready to get down but this one was a student success award for leadership.

Showing off his certificates! So proud of him. :-)

There's only one reason why they're both so happy (with each other) after school....
they both got on blue! And you know what that means....

We went out for ice cream after dinner!!
It was cold and rainy so we went to Coldstone where we could eat inside.

Zach chose cotton candy ice cream with gummy bears.

Jake chose strawberry ice cream with Reese's peanut butter cups.
(and yes, I tasted it and to me it was as awful as it sounds)

And Emily drank about half of my strawberry mango smoothie. Fewer calories for me!

Easter 2014

Here's some snapshots of our Easter!

Easter Baskets!

Zach, excited about his chocolate bunny.

And since Emily was still asleep, he decided he should make sure there wasn't anything he needed in her basket. Not sure what he thought her new bathing suit was going to be!

Into the candy..

Emily was ridiculously excited about having "pop pops" in her basket.

YUM!

Family photo after church with the sun in our eyes!

:)

Such a nice family picture! (even if Emily isn't smiling!)

silly boys.

And of course, they had to play in the fountain.

Yes, that's my chapstick in Emily's hand. No clue what happened to it when she finally put it down.

goof.

bigger goof.

And it's not Easter without an Easter egg hunt!
We gave Emily a couple of minutes to hunt before the boys. I "hid" around 180 eggs.

She was so excited to find eggs!

And she was on a mission and couldn't be bothered to carry her bucket with her to put the eggs in. She decided the "carry as many eggs as you can at one time" method was the best for her. She's gonna be one of those women that carry every grocery bag in the house in one trip.

And of course, at least one egg fell with each trip. :)

Oh my sweet little Emily.

Aren't her shoes the cutest? They're a little bit brighter than the flowers on the dress but the fabric her dress is made out of is more than 30 years old and I was thrilled to find something that even sort of had similar colors (and wasn't just white).

I made the boys pose for a picture before I let them join in the egg hunt.

And they're off!!!!

Zach found 69 eggs.

Jacob found 83.

Emily discovered that the eggs had candy in them and her hunt was over.

Emily's Easter egg hunt prize.

Zach's Easter egg hunt prize.

And Jacob got the biggest since he found the most!

silly.

Our Easter was really nice, even if we had to head home back to MD that afternoon!

Little League Opening Day!!

Today was opening day for the local Little League. Both boys are playing again this year; Jacob moved up to Minor B and Zach is playing Tee Ball again. Daniel is coaching Zach's team and our neighbor is coaching the Minor B team that Jake is on. Somehow we got lucky and even though they're in different divisions, both teams are the Knights!

Opening Day here begins with a parade where the players all march down Main St and then head back to the field for opening day ceremonies. Once the parade had totally passed me I raced down to the field to see if I could snap a picture or two (from outside of the fence!) of the boys.

Emily and I walked (well, Emily rode in the stroller while I walked!) to the parade and had a good time hanging out being silly before it started.

sunglasses compliments of Mrs. Sarah!

possibly my new favorite picture!

We saw Zach's team...

And then we saw Jacob's team...

And then from waaaaaaay across the field, I got a few pictures of Zach's team coming onto the field (but none of Jacob's because by the time his team was announced there was too many others on the field already!).

Then I had to find them after the ceremonies were over for a quick picture before Emily and I started the long (ok, only 1.3 miles) walk home!

Due to all the rain we had last night, some of the fields were too muddy to play on so both of the boys games got cancelled.
