The Homplace!

The kids and I were lucky enough to get to meet up with some friends for an early dinner today at The Homeplace (yum!!). So happy we got to catch up for a little bit and so excited to meet their baby boy in a couple of months!
Amanda and I have been friends our entire lives :)
When we were kids we lived down the street from each other and our families have a lot of fun memories together. I'm so excited that out of the 4 daughters from our 2 families (the Gibsons and the Davis'), someone other than myself will finally be having babies!!

We had soccer this morning too.

(maybe track should be his sport???)

for the record, this was not my idea. Jacob said "hey guys, lets all go on the slide together." Initially Emily wanted nothing to do with it but he was persistent (and wouldn't move off of the slide until she agreed).

I'm pretty sure this didn't go as planned.

I'll be saving this one for a future girlfriend of Jacob's.

the playground is exhausting.

Soccer season has started!

Zach decided he wanted to play soccer this year instead of baseball (of course he made that decision after soccer registration was over. late fees suck.) and had his first soccer game last Saturday. I'm not convinced that he loves the sport but he seemed to have a good time (& enjoyed the playground afterwards!). He definitely prefers playing defense!
Team huddle. He's a "Purple Panther."

While he didn't go after the ball a ton, he did a few times and was able to make contact (which was impressive since the team we played was INTENSE).

It was quite chilly out and neither boy remembered a sweatshirt so they took turns wearing mine. :)
Jake was giving Zach pointers on how they could win the game. (because he's an expert apparently!)

He takes after his Aunt Celia when it comes to blinking during pictures (but in his defense, it was really really sunny!).

and the trucks have made their first appearance (of many) this sports season.

I don't think they technically keep score in U7 soccer but the other team definitely won. Our purple panthers had a great time and greatly improved from the beginning to the end.
And the snacks are the favorite part anyway so the game doesn't seem to really matter!

(And in case you were wondering, no, Jacob did not choose to dress nicely for a soccer game. We had an appointment at church before Zach's game and Jacob forgot his change of clothes. :) )

Happy 76th Birthday, Pop!

We celebrated my Grandpa's 76th birthday last weekend.

Almost as soon as we got there the kids wanted to go check out the pond behind GG & GGP's house. They started out trying to skip rocks and then Daniel and my dad showed up with Huck so their focus shifted to see whether Huck was a water dog or not. (You be the judge from the pictures!)

Birthdays aren't complete without those fun party blowers...

the youngest and oldest Daniels of the "Daniel and Margaret" couples.
They're likely both wondering when dessert is coming.

instead of birthday cake we had peanut butter pie.. and the birthday boy got his very own cheesecake that he didn't have to share with anyone.

She sure loves her GGP!!

and she licked more than half of the candles!

the hubs.

just because.

my daddy

pop was busy pointing out the rips in the awning of the swing while Emily posed.

and Daniel rested. he had been busy working at the house in MD before heading to my grandparents house.

And then there was a stinkbug.
daddy was trying to convince Emily that he had picked up the stinkbug in his hand when really he picked up dirt.

"I don' know about that Grandpa!"

she was blowing it trying to get it to fall.

and then there was silliness

and of course I needed a picture of GGP with his great grandbabies before we left.
Happy Birthday, Pop!!
We love you and sure are glad that we live so close to you and GG now!
