first firepit of 2012!

Daniel thought it would be fun to have a firepit this evening and toast hot dogs. It was nice enough outside when we started and the boys were quite excited about it (especially becaue they missed Daniel yesterday!).  Daniel of course corrected me when I told him it was our first firepit of 2012...because he's had "beer fires" with our neighbors since the new year. I told him it was OUR first one though and he agreed. (I know, you didn't need to know all of that!)

The boys put their rain boots on and set out to play in our extremely mucky back yard. It's gross, like swamp mixed with dog poop gross. Regardless, they still had a lot of fun.

Probably 2 months ago the boys played in their sandbox with Daniel...and nobody ever covered it up. As you can imagine it's full of water now. Think kiddie pool. Well, kiddie pool at the beach, full of sand. That pretty much sums it up.  These pictures pretty much sum it up too...

 Jake got the ice out of the lid.

Zach fished out a wiffle ball...and then his arm was soaked.

Daniel was excited..he got to play with fire and his hatchet.

Jake decided he'd take a few buckets of water over to the firepit so we could pour the water on the fire when we were done. How thoughtful ... and prepared.

Yes, Zach was sitting in the sandbox full of water.

He picked his tush up out of the water when he saw me.

The only thing that would've made it better would be if I would've remembered to buy marshmallows!
