Pumpkin Carving time!!

Tonight was our only free time this week before Halloween to carve pumpkins...
Zach wanted Daniel's help cutting the top off of his.

Jacob said he was doing it by himself!

Emily wanted to help....and she bent the little carving knife she was using.

PULL!!!

Got it!!

AHHHHHH! It's full of pumpkin goo!!

ewww.

Zach really did not want to touch it with his hands!

Jacob sawed it off himself!

digging the guts out.

Emily though it was funny.

And she thought her job was to scoop the goop out of the bowl after we all put it in.

At this exact moment Emily was saying "Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!" and Zach was telling us sadly how he really really really didn't want to stick his hand in the goo inside the pumpkin.

Emily was mesmerized.

Her own pumpkin!

She was much more willing to stick her hand in the pumpkin than either boy was at this age.

It's fun, mom!!

Right after this shot she stuck the scooper thing all the way in the pumpkin and as she was trying to get it out it was totally horizontal inside of the pumpkin so instead of coming right out, it sort of became a handle. That resulted in her screaming. She didn't want a handle!! She wanted her scooper thing out!

Ohhhhhhhh! Zachy! There's a lot of goo in your punkin!

Getting a big handful! (Just kidding, she still had the scooper in her hand!)

Thinking she'll carve her own!

top goes on. top goes off. top goes on. top goes off.

Jake thought he'd shake the goo out of the pumpkin.

Emily wanted to help Zach out.

I got one!!

I told them to carry Zach's pumpkin over to me so I could help him clean it out.

Pumpkin goo!

Still scooping!

Zach carving his pumpkin!

Jacob carving his!

Emily picking out what she wanted hers to look like.

Our pumpkin family! (& Jelly Bean)
Daniel's is the top left, mine is the silly one on the top right.
Zach's is the bottom left, Emily's in the middle, and Jacob's on the right.

Zach's pumpkin makes me thing I'm seeing double vision.

the Pumpkin Patch!

After we left Hayden's party... then had lunch... we met my parents at the pumpkin patch!! (Somehow we've been lucky enough to go with them almost every year!)

On the hay ride to the pumpkin patch at Chesterfield Berry Farm! Jacob thought it was pretty neat that I used to ride on these wagons when I was younger than him when we went to the pumpkin patch!

Daniel looks absolutely thrilled. ;-)

Off to find the perfect pumpkin!

Zach spotted the biggest one he could find and declared it was the one he wanted.. and wouldn't leave it. Finally my dad told him if it was still there after we looked at some others that he would carry it for him.

Emily picked this one..

And then this one.. and then a few others.

Zach was still with his pumpkin.

Jacob found the perfect one!

Zach found another one!

And Emily found more!!

Jacob spotted a big one and decided he HAD to have it... and proved it to us by carrying it.

swimming in the dirt.

Granny was trying to get Em to find the perfect punkin!

I want that one!!

Yes!!!

Our 5 pumpkins!

Emily thought she'd play her own little game of roll the pumpkins!

waiting for a hay ride... patiently.

So proud of herself!! She watched the boys sit on their pumpkins and was absolutely determined to sit on hers!!

my sweet 3!

Granny & Pa with the grandbabies.

Look at those eyes!!

(Yes, the wheelbarrow very clearly said "No riding" but they weren't technically riding...they were posing.

Our pumpkins!

This is how Zach spend his afternoon once we got back to my parents house...riding the tractor with Pa, sucking up the leaves.

We wrapped up our weekend with church and then breakfast with friends and family.
It was wonderful!
