Making Strawberry Jam!

We set out early yesterday morning to a local strawberry farm for some fun times picking strawberries. Zach and Emily enjoyed picking strawberries. Jacob enjoyed eating strawberries (and by that I mean he ate the ones that Daniel had already picked!). We saw some friends while we were there and the kids all got to play for a little bit after we had picked enough!

I just wanted one picture with the kids and the berries.. just one! Emily protested.
We picked around 35 pounds!

Ever wonder what $100 worth of fresh picked strawberries would look like? You're welcome.

YUM!

Our plan was to make strawberry jam yesterday but the plan got derailed due to hot bilco doors.
However, today we made jam!

The boys helped with the rest of the jam making process too but there were too many steps happening at the stove with boiling hot strawberry goo to take pictures!

the result: 8 pints of delicious homemade strawberry jam!

What better after a day of making jam than to have a firepit and roast hot dogs for dinner?

I was playing with the shutter speed on my camera :)

And the little mama was taking care of her baby.

Emily's 1st smore!

And yes, that's ketchup on her forehead.

She quickly asked for a "nakin" (napkin!)!

She snuggled right up to Daniel and of course I didn't have my camera in my hand so we recreated the moment but she wouldn't do it just like before!

can you spy Jacob?

silly boy. One more week of being a 1st grader for him!
