Easter!!

We had such a fun Easter! We went to the Easter Vigil Mass on Saturday evening so that Sunday morning we could just relax and have fun (and stay in our pj's for a bit!!).

The boys normally get up VERY early when we're at my parents house (well, Jacob always does..Zach sometimes does). They know that granny is up and they can go sit and read with her or watch cartoons while Daniel and I occassionally get to sleep in a little (like 7am!). Saturday night they were so excited about the Easter bunny coming in the morning that of course they didn't want to go to sleep. They kept coming up with reasons to get out of bed and I finally told them to get in bed or the Easter bunny wasn't going to come! We left for church and dad stayed home with the boys. It sounded like Jacob stayed in bed after that (though not asleep) but that Zach just kept getting up! I was sort of expecting to find the boys up watching cartoons on the couch when we got home from church and find my dad sleeping in his recliner. Dad was in his recliner but the boys were sound asleep in their beds!

I heard Jacob get up Sunday morning and quickly rolled out of bed to grab my camera so I could capture Easter morning in pictures only to find Jacob sitting at the ladder on their bunk beds waiting for permission to get out of bed! He had woken Zach up and they were patiently waiting for me to give them the go ahead. Jake said he had peeked around the corner and saw that the Easter bunny had come but he didn't want to get in trouble for getting out of bed!
They were both excited to see what was in their baskets..

Jake was thrilled with every piece of candy!

They were excited to build their puzzles!

Then it was time for an Easter Egg Hunt!! The boys did an egg hunt with their Aunt Mary last weekend while Daniel and I went to a wedding but I wanted to do one with them too!

 And they're off!!

Both boys went right by the first 2 eggs (that Daniel placed totally out of Zach's reach!). I pointed out that he missed a couple and he happily ran back and asked for help getting them.

So excited!

Hunting for eggs!!

I found another!

Jake was a super egg hunter!

Zach was quite happy to hunt for eggs too but kept telling us he wanted some help!

He carefully placed each one in his basket...he was afraid of them popping open and losing his jelly beans that were inside!

another!

Look at all my eggs!

Dad or Daniel pointed out that there were a few more by the apple tree so the boys took off!

Time to count the eggs! Jacob sorted his out by color as he counted them.

He was still smiling a this point..... then he realized Jacob had 4 more eggs than him and the pouting began!

Zach wouldn't smile for anything!

We rehid some of the eggs so that Zach could have more (Jake was such a good sport!) and Zach still refused to smile. He also refused to pick up the "pity eggs."

Jacob even attempted to make Zach smile. No luck.

Pa made Zach happy. And yes, Zach was just about to stomp on the water hose.

See mom, I'm happy now.

Happy because he was helping Pa water plants in the garden.

Yes, I really wanted a nice picture of them together so I kept on trying!

still grumpy!!

Jacob finally figured out how to pump his legs on the swing to make himself go.

I think I figured it out...he was ticked off at Jake for finding more eggs and didn't want to be near him in a picture.

At this point he was happy because there was more eggs in his basket than Jacob's.

I'm done, mom!

Dying eggs with GG (my grandma z).

Playing with bubbles!

more bubbles!!

and more bubbles!!!

While we were at the beach last week, Daniel and the boys got to ride on go-karts. They all had a blast and I'm pretty sure Daniel decided that was going to be our next purchase. Jacob was really hoping the Easter bunny would bring some and was unhappy with me when I told him that daddy wanted to get them for them and the Easter bunny would definitely not be leaving any in the living room!

Daniel found a really good deal on 2 of them...and just had to drive to Lynchburg to get them (on Easter!). He and my dad left with dad's truck and trailer to go check them out. Mom and I took the boys down to Richmond to visit my grandma Gibson and boy were they excited when we got back to Granny and Pa's to find go-karts!

Mom and I both had tears in our eyes when Daniel zipped off with Zach. She told dad that she was sure that his dad was looking down from heaven with the biggest grin ever on his face watching the boys have such a good time with their new toys. I know dad is excited to get to tinker around with them with the boys and Daniel like he used to do with his dad.

Some of the pictures are a little blurry but they were having such a good time!

I just love this one!

Jake was looking at the single seater go-kart that Grandpa already had up on his old go kart thing (the same one he used to put go-karts on when he was working on them with his dad a long time ago). Pa told him they had to replace the clutch on it and Jake asked if he could help him work on it.

We had walked over to the neighbors to talk for a few minutes and the boys decided they wanted to ride some more.. Jake gave Zach a little push down the driveway and Zach just started rolling! Luckily Grandpa was there to chase him and help steer Zach into Mr. Grubbs' yard!

Pa=future pit crew?

Zach LOVED it!!

Jake was in heaven!!

I actually took this one before they got to ride when they had first saw the 2 seater. Boy, they were excited!  The go-karts are hanging out at Granny & Pa's house for the next 2 weeks and then Pa is loading them up on the trailer and bringing them to our house!
I'm pretty sure Daniel's next purchase is going to be a trailer to pull behind his truck!
