brrrrrrrrr!

Holy poop it was a cold day today!! It wouldn't have seemed so bad if it wasn't so windy. The wind actually caused a problem here too...
That would be Daniel's passenger side mirror on his truck after this hit it:
a nice big limb!

His truck was actually parked in between the pieces. I was in the kitchen looking for food (because apparently thats all I do now) and heard a small crash. I looked out the window and saw a big branch resting on the hood of his truck. What did I do? I said "honey, you might want to go check on your truck. There's a pretty good sized limb resting on it." He went out, looked at it and then decided to move it to the front of the house. He got out of the truck and was walking up our walkway and I asked him if that was all the damage. He looked absolutely goofy at me so I pointed at his mirror that he had somehow missed when he checked the truck over!! Yay for insurance! Based on what we saw on our policy information we shouldn't have to pay anything to get it taken care of. Phew!!

We had the world's laziest Saturday at our house today. The boys played their mobigos and then took turns on my iPod and Daniel's iPhone.

(try to ignore the picture frame on the wall without pictures in it... and the plaster over the closet door that needs to be sanded and painted!!)

At some point Zach fell asleep while Daniel was helping him play a game.
Daniel said this is probably only his second "daddy nap" that he's been able to have with Zach (over nearly 3 1/2 years!!).

Zach snuggling up to Copper while Daniel attempted to nap.

I got to skype with my mom this morning and talk to my cousin, Rose, for a few minutes while she was visiting too. It was really nice to get to "see" her since it's been so long! The boys enjoyed talking to her too! Mom was quite excited to hear the name we picked... Emily Hope Durrbeck.
I would love to write more but a super tasty whoopie pie from Lancaster, PA was just placed in front of me thanks to my neighbors! Technically 2 were placed in front of me but Daniel suggested I save one for him.... we'll see. :-)

wooooo-hoooo!

So, the good news is that we've picked a name for our baby girl.. but the bad news is I can't post it until I call my mom in the morning! I'll give you a hint, it's pretty. :-)

I'm thankful it's Friday and that my children are in bed. Hopefully they'll sleep in tomorrow.. and seriously, sleeping in for Jacob is like 6am. (I'd like to stay snug and warm in my bed til 7am at least!)

I had another OB checkup this morning that went well. My blood pressure was much better this time and the baby's heartbeat sounded good.

It's not even 9pm and I'm ready for bed! Hopefully we'll have some fun pics this weekend to post!

Picnic at the park!

We have enjoyed a few gorgeous days outside!

Yesterday, the boys had lunch outside on their little tiny picnic table. Zach still fits at it okay but Jacob is getting way too big for it!
They asked me to buy them lunchables..so I did. They insisted they wanted the sub ones so thats what we got. I made each of them try one bite of it and they didn't have to eat any more of the bread after that. They're lucky they have a nice mom too because the bread seemed stale! I'm pretty sure what sold them on the lunchables was the jello cup in them. They were excited about the little bottle of water too--they hadn't even realized it came with a little tube of kool aid to mix into it. :-) I'd like to say they were excited about the cookies too but they didn't eat them until later in the day!

Aren't they sweet? :-) This was clearly before our day went downhill!!

They played outside on their bikes and scooters and wagon for a little while after they ate!
Jake really enjoyed pulling Zach around in the wagon...

Jake said "How about we ride through the prickly bush?"

Headed back to the garage!

I'm not sure why I keep trying to get a nice picture of them together.

again... why do I bother?? hehe

Both boys had school today and my neighbor, Megan, mentioned something to me this morning about taking the kids to the park for a picnic and then to play for a little while after school.

I made them fruit kebobs because I'm a good mom like that.

This was after Zach fell off of the monkey bars. There was mud smeared all over his face.

my sweet Jakeyroo.

Once again, they told me I was the best mom ever for taking them to the park!!

snow!!

I must say, I was SO thankful that we were in Powhatan over the weekend (well, we didn't arrive until late Saturday night because we had a birthday party for a super sweet little girl to attend up here Saturday afternoon). I was invited to a bridal shower for a longtime friend of mine that was on Sunday and luckily, Daniel was off from work on Monday and the boys were off school also so it made it possible! It started snowing on Sunday after Daniel, the boys, and I were leaving breakfast after church with Daniel's dad. Nothing was really sticking right away so mom, Celia, and I headed off to the shower and left the guys at the house. We had a great time at the shower and can't wait for the wedding!

It started snowing pretty darn heavy around 7pm (ish)...and we were at Texas Roadhouse with Daniel's dad. I think it might've snowed around 2 inches while we were in there and the roads were covered when we left. It was definitely a LONG ride back to my parents' house!

Monday morning the boys were excited to play in the snow! When I had checked the weather report while I was packing our clothes for Virginia they were calling for less than an inch so though I did pack us warm clothes, jackets, hats, and gloves, I didn't pack snow suits or boots. In fact, I packed the boys each only 1 pair of shoes. Regardless, they had a BLAST!

 SNOW!!

 Jake making a snow angel.
Zach making a snow angel.

Missy waiting to play.

She loved catching snowballs.

and didn't mind the splattering of snow in her mouth!

The boys really had a great time!!!

Jacob got Daniel with a snowball.

Pa went after Jacob...and just plopped the snowball on his head!

So Zach went after Pa...

Then Zach went after Jacob...

Pa went after Zach too...

He was guilty of throwing a snowball at someone..

Zach "snuck" up on Jacob to put snow in his hood...
(which I later ended up picking up off of the floor in mom's house).

I asked the boys for one nice picture of the 2 of them together...
here's what I got:

My last attempt...just hug your brother!!
