an unexpected trip...

Hopefully I'll eventually get back to blogging regularly!!

Daniel left work early on Friday so I could go to my doctor's appointment and have my incision checked out again (everything looked good) then we decided to take the kids to the pool. It's not very often that Daniel gets to go with us (and when he does it's not normally for very long) so it was a lot of fun. Jacob actually ventured into the big pool with Daniel with his life jacket on... and "did swimming" as he calls it. He was doing the swimming motions with his life jacket on and moving pretty darn good around the pool! Zach "did the ladder" as he called it. He went up and down the ladder steps of the big pool. Eventually he'll feel more comfortable about actually getting in it. They both had a fantastic time and were sad when they had to get out. We also put Emily in her little swimsuit (thanks Bern!!) for the first time and put her little toes in the water in the splash pool. She screamed--absolutely hated it!!!

Where are the pictures??? Well, we took a bunch, I even took a video of Jacob in the big pool.............................................................I was taking pictures yesterday morning before taking the boys to Safetyville and all of a sudden got a message on my camera that said "card is unreadable." Seriously? I was in the middle of taking pictures!! Well, neither Daniel nor I can get the card to do anything on either my laptop, his work laptop, or the camera itself. So, I'm not throwing the card out but I'm thinking I've lost the pictures. We'll have to recreate them!!

We got a call late Friday afternoon from Daniel's dad telling us that Daniel's grandma's condition hadn't improved any and had actually gotten worse. We decided the best thing to do was have Daniel drive down to Powhatan on Saturday to see his grandma. I wasn't sure wether we'd all go or wether he'd just go but Saturday morning we decided we should all go so we quickly threw stuff in a few bags and loaded up the car and headed to VA. The 4 hour drive there ended up taking about 6....including us dropping Daniel off at the hospital and then just heading to my moms (his dad was meeting him at the hospital...we didn't just desert him!). Daniel's dad got to meet Emily for the first time at church that night. :-) I didn't think it was appropriate to pull my camera out in the middle of Mass...but I did have it with me. We went out to dinner with him that night too...and Emily was super duper fussy! The boys were quite excited to see their Dee-Daw though! We saw him for a little on Sunday too before heading back to Maryland. (Daniel went down to the hospital on Sunday morning too.) Our 4 hour drive back to our house on Sunday took 7. Talk about miserable!!  same picture story as before.

Here's a few pictures from yesterday and today from my phone!

Aside from Saturday being difficult due to Grandma Durrbeck's declinning health, it was also exactly one year since my Grandpa Gibson's passing. Not a day goes by where I don't think about him. I'm sad that I'll never get to see him hold my sweet Emily but I know he's watching us from above and he's proud of us and the family we have.
