Saturday we celebrated Jacob’s 6th birthday with
family and friends in Virginia. It was a lovely day for a party at the park!
Jake told me he wanted to have a Mario Kart party so I made a fun invitation
and figured out what I wanted the cake to look like.
ta-da!
The party was a lot of fun. I thought having sliders would
be fun, Jake thought hot dogs would be better. We compromised and had both. J I came up with lots of
fun toppings for them along with everything else we wanted! I stayed up late
Friday evening after we got to my parents’ house prepping stuff for the party
so I had less to do on Saturday (and was then super tired Saturday morning!) At
least my mom was up early so the boys hung out with her for a little while and
let me sleep until Emily was awake! (Daniel got to sleep even later!) Jacob’s
Godparents (& Emily’s) took care of making the baked beans so that was one
less thing I had to do (thank you!!!!! They were great!). I had pretty much
finished the cake on Friday at our house so that was already checked off the
list too! We finished getting stuff ready and even had a few minutes to relax
before heading to the park. I told my mom that I don’t remember ever having a
party that I didn’t feel super stressed before—I didn’t feel like I was rushing
around or anything; it was fantastic!
Here’s some pictures from our day…
Jacob with his cake before the festivities began!
Emily smiling with her granny. Mom is determined to have Emily like her more than my dad.

Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you!
Happy birthday dear Jacob!
Happy Birthday to you!!
Jacob with his Godparents, Steve & Marcia. I know, I should've gotten a better picture!
Emily with her Great Aunt NeeNee (my Aunt).
Present time!
Jacob got sooooo many fun things! I haven't even gotten to see everything he got yet!
Dee-daw watching Jacob open his presents; probably enjoying sitting by himself!
My sister, Aunt Celia, and her hubby, Uncle Marc, with Emily.
After the party, Emily was much happier to get to sit and relax...and watch football.
She loves to watch football.
My grandpa and grandma Zukowski (who my kids call GGP (“jeep”) and GG) couldn’t make it on Saturday to the party but came to my mom’s this morning to visit. So after we went to church and had breakfast with Dee-Daw (Daniel’s dad) and Jake & Emily’s Godparents (Steve & Marcia) we got to visit with the great-grandparents for a bit. The boys always want GGP to get down on the floor and play—today that meant first putting a new toy together and then playing with it.
My grandfather muttered a few words about how much "fun" it was putting it together!
Emily thought it was funny to watch them.
Daniel thought Emily wanted to get down on the floor and help them. She liked my grandpa's little dog, Cookie, too.
done! Now the few choice words he was uttering were about what in the world you were supposed to do with the toy!
Pretty sure Zach was asking GGP for a dollar. GGP asked Zach for one too.
We had a wonderful time getting to see everyone but are glad to be back home now! It'll be nice to get back in the groove of our everyday life...and hopefully our nightly sleeping pattern!
A BIG thanks to Marc for taking just about all of the pictures from the birthday party!!
I really appreciate it!
