Day 2 this week of no school!

We got another one of those fun 5:40am calls this morning saying the boys' school was closed due to an "area wide power outage" ----- we live like 3 blocks from the school and had power! Daniel said it was on when he went by on his way to work (7am ish). Anyways, we had a lazy day at home--well, the boys did, I was busy starting on Sammy's cake. We ventured out to BJ's and the grocery store for a couple hours after Emily's morning nap.

at BJ's. Emily's first time in the cart without sitting in her carseat. I need to dig out my cart cover. I bribed Zach to walk at the grocery store so Emily could sit in the cart.

Emily's in the recliner.
"Come on mom, prop my feet up please!"
S-P-O-I-L-E-D

It was super windy here all day long. There were people's recycling trash cans blowing all over the place. (not to mention people's recyclables!) We had a few snow flurries this afternoon and they're calling for more snow to start in a couple hours. I just want one decent amount of snow to fall here for the kids to play in! (So what I'm saying is I want about 10" of snow and then I'm ready for spring!)

Let's see if we have another day off in the morning!

springtime in January!

We had gorgeous weather here today (as it seems everyone did!) and aside from the mud everywhere, it was quite nice outside! The boys enjoyed playing outside for a little bit this afternoon and of course, the mud didn't bother them one bit! One of the kids in Zach's class came down to play for a bit too! They all had a great time until I said we had to go in so I could finish up dinner!

twisting up his swing and starting to get muddy!

The entire area under their swings was mud.

And they loved it!

I know it's blurry but what a great shot!

Here I go again. Wouldn't it be great if we could get one picture of all 3 of you?

kids: "We have a crazy camera obsessed mom!"

sweetest picture ever.

Tater Tot, Little Lady, and my Doodlebug (though he'd prefer his nickname to be Jake the Snake because thats what Pa and Papa Joe (neighbor's grandpa) calls him!)

It doesn't get better than this!

In other news, the boys both got their report cards today and both did excellent! They continue to make me a proud mama!

7 month photos!

I realized this evening that today is January 27th---Emily is 7 months old! I had to snap a few pictures before bedtime!

Look at those deep blue eyes.
Happy 7 months, little ladybug.

Happy Birthday, Noah!

Today we got to celebrate a sweet little boy's 1st birthday party with his wonderful friends and family. We first got to meet Noah, his parents, Mike & Jen, and 2 big brothers, Andrew & Josh, just under a year ago through t-ball and boy are we glad they were on our team!

We were so glad to be included in his special day!
Happy 1st Birthday, Noah!

All the kids there seemed to have a fantastic time! They played with a parachute and did lots of other games! Jen's mom sure was great at keeping them going. :-)

Birthday boy with his dad. Sorry, Mike--this picture makes me laugh. :-)

Birthday boy opening his presents with his mom.
Isn't he just adorable? His birthday shirt with pretend suspenders just made me smile!
Daniel thought he needed a trucker hat to match the little belly of his with the suspenders shirt.
By the way, Jen is Emily's future mother in law. We already have the dowry planned out.

Noah playing with a new puzzle with his Pappy.

We stayed to help clean up. The "bigger" boys entertained themselves.

Noah was partied out!!!! He must've had a good time!

Did I mention we had good food? Emily enjoyed the pieces of roll she got!

Taco night with the neighbors!

We had taco night at our house tonight. Chips, homemade salsa, queso blanco dip, shredded chicken tacos, beef tacos, spanish rice and pineapple upside down cake. And beer...quite a bit of beer. And shirley temples and limeade for the pregnant and nursing moms!

Emily wanted everything on the table. And it was quite funny that she wanted Daniel's beer bottle as bad as she did....until it got knocked over. Then she got an empty one...that for some reason ended up with a plastic spoon in the top of it.

still before the spill. :-)
And the night was just getting started!

Wall-E was on disney. Jacob was picking his nose.

You'd think the playroom would be clean since they're all watching a movie. . .the boys will be spending some good quality time cleaning it up in the morning....and then the living room!

3 guys and 1 gal consumed quite a few beers. Then Daniel got out the jar of moonshine thats been sitting on our picnic table in the backyard since Thanksgiving. They (well, Daniel) lit on on fire and then put a candy cane in it...and then monkeyed around with the soft candy cane.

I'd say we had a pretty fun night. :-)
(and somehow I managed to get all 3 of our kids to bed with company over...and they all went to sleep just fine!)

Our evening dialogue. . .

After we read to the boys tonight I (of course) suggested they all get in the recliner for a picture. Jacob said he was taking his book with him for them to look at. I'm pretty sure the dialogue went something like this:
Zach: I'm holding Emily.
Jacob: I'm holding the book. You guys can look at it.

Jacob: Emily, you're not going to eat my book.

Emily: But Jacob, I want to eat your book.

Jacob: Alright guys, I'm going to hold the book over here so Emily can't take it.

Jacob: See that Emily, you can't hold it. It's my book and I don't want you to eat it.

Emily: LET ME SEE THE BOOK!!!

Emily: DADDY!!! HE SAID I COULDN'T SEE HIS BOOK. PUT HIM IN TIME OUT!!!

Emily: Thanks boys. I love you too.

Somehow the girl always wins.

Emily tried apple blueberry mush today too.
Clearly it was a hit!

Yum!

Alright mom, I'm done!
