Zach was all about petting the animals and feeding them. Jacob was a happy bystander.
Zach convinced me to buy a little cup of kibbles for some of the animals and he went around feeding them...being sure to only give each animal one kibble.
The second tent of animals were mostly fenced off with animals in crates and cages (raccoon, lemur, porcupine, skunk, hedgehog, squirrels, foxes...animals you want to keep your distance from!) There were also a few lizards and snakes!
And then there were these cute little piggies that I tried to convince Jake to pet... but nope! I even told him they were cute like little puppies..nothing!
There were a few little games set up where you'd get a bag of chips/popcorn after you tried the activity...
Jake threw the potato before I was even ready to take his picture!
Zach's turn! Both boys got them in on the first try (and they were quite bouncey potatoes!).
It got to be pretty darn warm so I convinced the boys it was time to head home for lunch and then we'd go to the pool to cool off.
rolling down the hill on our way out!
Before we could go to the pool though we had to have our pool membership id cards made which meant I needed to print off this document with our information on it. My printers been giving me grief lately; I was out of yellow ink. I tried everything I could to bypass printing in color and it still told me it couldn't print anything (not even in grayscale) since I didn't have enough yellow ink in the cartridge. UGH! I would've normally just had Daniel print it for me at work but he was in a meeting all day and hadn't responded to my email so I just decided to run to the store for yellow ink. I got it, came home, replaced the cartridge and told it to print the paper...only for my printer to decide it was now out of blue and red ink!!! I was so aggravated I just wanted to throw it out the window! Anyways, Daniel got back to me while I was feeling super frustrated and printed the paper for me! Guess what? The girl at the UD student services building (where we had to get our pool membership ids) didn't even want to see the stinkin' paper!! After all the trouble I went through to get it, I didn't really need it! (And finding the building I needed was another adventure. The road I was told to turn on was closed...all the parking required permits til I found a spot with a meter on the road. Luckily it was an end spot that didn't require parallel parking!! sheesh! When we were leaving the road was conveniently open again! grrrrr.) But the good news is we got our membership cards and won't need new ones printed for 4 years...well, Emily will need one next year so I guess we'll have the excursion again (only maybe I'll remember where to go and how to get there!).
Don't let the picture fool you...we were in the splash pool in 1 1/2 ft of water! (though he was hanging on the side and "floating" as he called it!)
What would a Monday night be without whiffle t-ball? We wouldn't know!
Zach keeping the ball from anyone else...you know, because it looks like the rest of the team is trying to take it! What a goofball!
And there he is again....at one point it looked like he was doing the crab walk on the field too. As long as he's having fun and actually on the field, I'm good with it! For a kid who only paid attention 50% of the time tonight, he sure got the ball A LOT!!
Countdown to meet Baby Emily....16 days! woo-hoo!!
The carpet guy is coming out tomorrow to measure and maybe by the end of the week we'll have new carpet upstairs! (or the beginning of next week!)
