Lucky me!

What a fantastic weekend we had! Saturday was filled with another of Jake's t-ball games and then working on baby Emily's room. Sunday, Daniel, the boys, and I went to church and then got donuts (yum!) and then I went out to lunch with a few awesome ladies up here. They were taking me out to celebrate baby Emily and all surprised me with cards and money to buy the crib I want. Each of their cards had a picture of a different part of the crib tucked inside. I was VERY surprised by it. They are all  our family's second family since we are away from everyone. And no, I didn't take my camera or else I would've made someone take our picture while we were out!

I ordered the crib today!!
I just love it!

We'll have to order the conversion rail kit for it so that it can become a full sized bed later on. It comes with the rail to make it a toddler bed. Of course I'm making the bedding for it (well, the bedskirt at least!). I'm not making a crib bumper because of all the hooplah about how unsafe they are. (I'm borrowing a breathable bumper from another wonderful friend!)

The boys worked on artwork for Emily's room today too. I had this GREAT vision a couple weeks ago; I bought 2 canvas' and 4 colors of paint that coordinated with the fabric for her room. I could picture these great abstract masterpieces made by Jake and Zach for their sister. Well, since it was raining outside I thought it was the perfect day for it. . .I asked the boys to think about what they wanted their pictures to look like and then they started painting. Jacob painted his name at the top and then painted a picture of their bunk beds. Zach started out drawing what he called our family's shadows--then it turned into blobs. Many brown blobs and a few others that were sort of close to the actual colors he started with. Once they finished working on their pictures they wanted paper to paint. Zach painted a lovely picture of our family and Jacob painted a very nice racecar complete with a stop sign because he was driving too fast and also clouds overhead. I need to take pictures of them holding their works of art. Jake is already picturing his bunk bed picture hanging over Emily's crib. . . . . we'll see.
