4 days of fun!

We have had a jam packed full last few days. The kids and I left Maryland on Wednesday for Virginia. We sat in miserable traffic but eventually made it (6 hours later!). Emily doesn't like riding in the car, I actually think she hates riding in the car. At least 1/3 of our ride was spent with a very unhappy baby! (don't worry...she was in the car the rest of the drive too...just sleeping semi-peacefully!)

Mom and dad weren't home from work yet when we got here on Wednesday so we went over to visit with their neighbors, Mr. Grubbs and Mrs. Cheryl. I should've grabbed my camera out of the car and took a few pictures! We had a nice little visit then walked back to moms and headed inside to relax and wait for them to get home!

Mom took Thursday off of work to spend some time with us and go shoe shopping! Every year she buys the boys new tennis shoes before school starts at the local stride rite store; they were both excited about getting shoes that tie this year! After trying to persuade him to get different shoes, I finally gave in and let Jacob pick the bright orange shoes he really wanted. Seriously bright shoes. Zach got much more normal silver, red, and white shoes! Anyways, we went out to lunch at Friendly's then had to run a few errands. Once we left Friendly's Zach fell asleep in the car...and slept all the way to BJ's...then slept while we shopped (riding in the front of the cart resting his head on the diaper bab), then slept back to mom's house, then slept on the couch there, then slept in the car on the way down to my Grandma Gibson's house. Somewhere around a 2.5 hour nap! He must've needed it!!
Zach sleeping on the couch wearing his new shoes.
My grandma, Emily, and I..with Jacob sneaking in in the background!
My grandma with me and 3 of her great grandbabies!
I sure wish my Grandpa Gibson was still here to meet Emily. He would just love her.

Daniel got to my parent's house in the wee hours of the morning on Friday (something like 2am...I was sound asleep!) I climbed out of bed to get up with the boys and came back to the room to find Daniel like this:

Emily was happy to see her daddy!

Our Friday adventure revolved around meeting up with my sister and brother in law at Kings Dominion with the kids (yes, we took a 7 week old to KD).

Jacob was bored to tears on this ride but scared to death to ride the roller coasters. We managed to get him on one the last 2 years but he wanted nothing to do with it this time! Next year! Poor Zachy, he wanted to ride everything but was too short!
Still too short to see out the front window! I need to compare this with the picture from last year!

Big man Jacob!

Honestly, I was amazed Jacob wanted to make the airplane go up in the air!

smile!

all of us at the end of our day!

the boys! Zach kept falling off the railing!

Emily at the end of our day!

Once we left KD at 7:30pm we still had to head to the grocery store to get stuff for the party on Saturday..not to mention feed our kids dinner (we had a late lunch!). Boy was it a long night!

Saturday was Zach's birthday party in VA! Can you believe he's just a week away from 4 years old??
Anyways, he had such a fun time.
the birthday boy!

the cake!

There were flies flying around and he wanted to stand there shooing them away.

so excited about his cake!

Zach was showing Dee-Daw the gnomes home in the tree. (clearly my dad has too much time on his hands to make a gnome home in the tree!)

This is where Emily spent the first 90 minutes of the party!

pinata time!

Zach wacking the pinata!

candy!!

Hayden was too cool for the pinata. He and Dee-Daw were busy blowing bubbles.

Time for cake! Look at his face!

He managed to get all 4 of the stars blown out right away! (though the wind helped...)

I had to post this one...pretty sure it's the first one I have of Daniel's dad smiling in a picture!!

Zach requested the snake's head.

boy was he tired. He didn't fall asleep in the chair (with his pinata candy next to him) but looked like he could've!

presents!

presents!!

more presents!!!

The bag from my Grandma Gibson had a mask on it.

So he had to go over and show it to her.

back to the presents..

Jonathan showing Zach how to use silly string.

presents again!

I love that he holds his gifts out for me to photograph nicely too!

ball 'o silly string.

Jonathan had been waiting to hold Emily for so long. He didn't let her go until it was time for him to leave!

Gabe got a turn too.

My parents with their granddaughter.

Balloons from the party. We always get the balloons for their party from a local pharmacy.. the ladies filling up the balloons always try to guess the "theme" of the party. What was their guess this year based on the colors? Brazil. Daniel told them it was a snake party and that the snake was red, yellow, and black.

Pa with Emily.

This is why I can't leave Ringo in the room with Emily. He just likes to lick her.

Ringo licking her made her very upset. My sister couldn't get her calmed down quick enough...so they both decided to fuss!

Party's over!!!

Today was the end of our jam packed few days...and we celebrated Emily's baptism.
Emily was baptized in what Daniel and I consider our "home" church in Powhatan, VA. It's the church we met at, were married at, and that both of the boys were baptized at.
The blessing at the beginning of the Mass.

Receiving the sign of the cross from her Godparents.

She didn't even know what was about to happen.

still no clue.

Being baptized. She was such a good litle girl. She didn't make a peep...and the water was cold!

Fr. Lewis placed the white vestment on her. While he was doing it he told the congregation how special this particular white garment is to us. Daniel's grandma who passed away a month ago used to make these for all of the babies being baptized in our church. She hand embroidered every one of them. I'm not sure how many they have left but after his grandma passed away they made sure to pull one aside that she had made. I had tears in my eyes as he placed it on her and I know his grandma was there with us throughout the whole service.

The Knights of Columbus in our church always gives the mother a rose for choosing life and the father a rosary to pray with their child. This particular Knight is one that Daniel has known forever that we always see at Mass when we visit Powhatan.

Our picture with Fr. Lewis.

and Emily's Godparents, Steve and Marcia.

all of us! Steve and Marcia are also Jacob's Godparents.

our cute little family!

a rare picture of me with one of my babies!

My grandparents (mom's parents) were able to be with us for the baptism also. This was the first time they met their first great granddaughter. Jeep with Emily.

and my Grandma (GG)with Emily.

My mom's cousin's daughter, Jessica, with Emily. It was so nice to have them at her baptism.

Mom's cousin, Annie, and mom.

My grandma, mom, Emily, and myself.

Such a sweet little lady. Gosh I love her! She already has such a personality.

We were so thankful to have such wonderful time with friends and family for such happy occassions the last few days. Our children are so blessed to have them all in their lives.

The kids and I head home tomorrow, Daniel's already there. The boys will be sad to leave Granny & Pa's house, Emily will be sad to be stuck back in the carseat. Normal life will resume...starting with 2 hours of soccer in the evening.
