The Lighthouse!

We started out our day today like most Sunday's...at church. Our church has been having the interior redone for the past month so we've had folding metal chairs to sit on which is just fantastic with a 3 year old with ants in his pants! I was just glad we made it to Mass at 8:30...instead of the noon Mass like we went to last week! Anyways, we got home, I fed Miss Emily, she fell asleep so I put her in the bouncey seat, and we headed outside to plant the crunchy plants I bought at Lowe's (super cheap). She was happy, Daniel dug the holes and planted the black eyed susans and hydrangeas, so I decided that I would weed my flower beds. I haven't been able to get ahead of them this year. I weed them and a week later, they're FULL of tall weeds again. My daddy sprayed roundup on all of the weeds when they were up when Emily was born...well, everything wilted away then...and 5 weeks later, the beds are full of weeds again! While I was weeding I found a flower that I didn't plant and wasn't there last year.....
Know whats special about it? The last time we were in Powhatan before Emily was born (Mother's Day weekend) Daniel's grandma gave me some potted flowers that she grew from seeds, vincas. I planted them in a pot in the backyard..nowhere near the front flower beds. Somehow they're up front now (and still in my pot in the back). I told Daniel that it was a sign from his grandma that she was watching us (and probably wondering if I was ever going to weed my flower beds and find the flower!). There's actually a few of them in my flower bed. I just found it special and it made me get teary eyed. I told Daniel I was going to bring my potted vincas in the house towards the end of the season and attempt to keep them alive. I always think of his grandma when I look at them. I might have to dig the one in the picture up out of the flower bed and plant it in the pot too!

2 other flowers from my beds....

How Emily "watched" me garden...

I got tired and sat on Jake's swing...Daniel went inside and told Jacob I was on his swing and he quickly came outside and took over (yes, he does need a haircut!)!

how Emily watched Jacob swing...

Then Zach came out...

Daniel was tickling Jacob everytime he swung backwards..

Then we went to the Lighthouse at Turkey Point.

Daniel in the lighthouse.

Jacob in the lighthouse.

Zach in the lighthouse.

with the flag.

The cliffs were even a little too much of a dropoff for Daniel's comfort level.

The boys said it looked like I had a bow in my hair. Daniel said it's not my hair. It is, and the wind is blowing it like that.

Zach needed a break before we headed back down the trail.

Jake took a break on the stumps.

all relaxing on one big stump.

I think the heat was getting to all of them!!

Zach was too tired to walk.

Emily actually fussed when we took her from him. She sure loves her Zachy.

What the heck, right?

And now for the happy faces of Emily...

She was in such a good mood for our walk!
